This book is a basic textbook on antenna theory and wave propagation for third year undergraduate students. It covers all the standard material like derivation of the radiation field pattern produced by electric and magnetic current sources, duality in the Maxwell equations, antenna parameters and the radar equation, infinitesimal dipole, straight wire and circular loop antennas, Yagi-Uda array, pattern multiplication theorem and antenna arrays, propagation of em waves in different kinds of media etc. Apart from this, it also contains specialized research topics like quantum fluctuations in the antenna pattern, gravitational waves based on general relativity ans quantization of the
gravitational field. Secondly, a separate section on transmission lines and waveguides has also been included and this material can be used to teach a separate course on transmission lines and waveguides. Finally, a section devoted to dsp tools applied to antennas , transmission lilnes and waveguides has been included to enable the readers to simulate antenna patterns, and voltage and current in a transmission line using MATLAB. Specialized topics include problems like target shape calculation from scattered em waves and analysis of inhomogeneous waveguides using perturbation theory for partial differential equations.
