A grandfather remembers a time in his past during which he and his buddy Otto accidentally knock his sister's pumpkin down the front steps and smash it to smithereens. By the author of The Potato Man.
The Great Pumpkin Switch is a book about how a Grandpa tells his grandchildren a story from his past. He and his friend take home Rosie's, his sister, grand prize pumpkin to sit on the porch. While the boys are sawing, they accidentally saw through the vine and send Rosie's pumpkin bouncing down the steps and smashing into pieces. Before Rosie found out, the boys had help from the neighbours and replaced the pumpkin to save the day. This story is about an accident that turned out to be okay. This book shows children that accidents do happen and it will be okay and there are ways to fix the problem.
