500 _aSince the last revision of this book in 1999, there has been tremendous development in the field of Analytical Chemistry. In view of this, the book has been thoroughly revised as well as enlarged. Thus, in the field of separation science, 3 new chapters (i) Super critical fluid chromatography and extraction (ii) Electrophoresis (iii) Capillary electrophoresis and Capillary electro-chromatography have been added. The two original chapters on chromatography general and ion exchange separations have been totally redrafted in view of new theories on exchange phenomena. In the field of Chromatography 4 new chapters have been added. They are (i) X-ray spectroscopy (ii) Mössbauer spectroscopy (iii) Raman spectroscopy and (iv) Electron microscopy. In frontier areas, three new chapters on (i) Chemiluminescence, Atomic fluorescence ionisation spectroscopy (ii) Chemical sensors and Biological sensors (iii) Refractometry and Interferometry have been added. In addition, in twenty chapters new material has been added principally dealing with statistical methods in analytical chemistry, newer supramolecular compounds like rosaxene, use of hyphenatical technique in gas chromotometry and mass spectrometry, spectro-electrochemistry, several kinds of interference in AAS, UV photoelectron spectroscopy, hydrodynamic voltametery, etc. The limited and relevant references are retained to literature of those books which are easily accessible. The overall planning has been done so as not to leave out any upcoming area in analytical chemistry. The book will be indispensable for postgraduate students majoring in analytical chemistry and chemistry graduates in general to keep track of recent developments. It will also serve as guide to the practising chemistry and research investigators to get acquainted in newer areas of chemical sciences.
